Canon A630
The Canon a630 is very similar to its higher-powered sibling, the a640, of the Canon Powershot series. These cameras are moderate in size but very powerful in picture quality, performance and function. In fact, the Canon a630 model of the Canon powershot series scored almost identically as the a640 in all categories when reviewed by experts. First and foremost, the Canon a630 is not as technically complex as the higher-end model. The Canon a630 has an eight megapixel resolution compared to ten inches with the a640. Aside from the resolution issues, both models are practically the same. They both have a sturdy camera case and a somewhat large body. The Canon a630, like the higher-end model, has a 35 millimeter to 140 millimeter lens and PASM exposure controls. The Difference Between The Canon A630 Digital Camera And The A640 The Canon a630 is about $75.00 less expensive than the a640. That $75.00 comes from the difference in resolution, which in the end, affects photo quality. Generally speaking, both products produce very sharp, very colorful photos. The Canon a630 digital camera can print photos with little distortion and no noticeable fringing. Since the a630 is a lower resolution, some colors may appear muted or slightly off. Interestingly, the weaker resolution a630 displayed less noise compared to the a640. As expected, once you increase the ISO level, more grain will start to appear, with minor grain at 400, and much more visible at 800. For printing the best photos lower the sensitivity settings.

Another reported problem, with both the a640 and the Canon a630 camera for sale is the camera's capacity for shooting low-light surroundings. There is also no image stabilization, which may be a feature you require. However, the camera also has its share of positive reviews. There is a flip out LCD screen which is very convenient for space, accessory lenses and best of all, lots of manual controls. Manual controls are of special interest to serious photographers who often times cannot work with the automatic shutter speed and aperture adjustment, or even the camera presets. The Canon a630 also has a video camera feature that allows the recording of small movies for when something truly wonderful must be captured on film.
Should You Buy An A630 Camera? The Canon a630 has many positives and plenty of useful camera accessories. It is a solid camera for photographers who want a snapshot camera but who also desire the manual controls. How important is the extra resolution? This review states it's only important if you especially need the extra pixels. Otherwise, the Canon a630 is a cheap camera and has most of the same features |
